A Talk by Miss Utah 2007 Heather Anderson

This is a classic case of an event which transcends words. I only wish I could adequately describe Heather's sunny and honest personality, or her obvious ease with kids, or the expert way she told her stories. Suffice it to say that it was a great pleasure to watch her draw the kids close to her and leave an impression on us all regarding the danger of drugs. Listen to her if you get the chance.

Thanks, Heather.

I attended my daughter's 5th grade graduation from the D.A.R.E. program at St. John the Baptist Elementary School today. Your talk was so impressive! What a role model you are for kids as well as for parents. Thank you for taking the time to tell us your brother's story. It was very powerful and brought me to tears. What a wonderful tribute to him, helping to save kids from making those bad choices. My daughter said to me, I am making a pledge to never do drugs..and I believe her!

Today I attended my son's 5th grade D.A.R.E. program at Daybreak Elementary. Heather spoke today about the dangers of drugs and spoke about her brother who sadly passed away from a drug overdose. Heather has turned this family tragedy into something so powerful so every one who hears her talk can learn from her. She was not only a role model to the kids but to me as well, she was a very impressive person and I wanted to thank her for taking her time to go tell her story.
